Aramid Fabrics Aramid Fabrics are made out of woven synthetic fibers which are very strong and heat-resistant, as well as resistant to abrasion and impact. There are two types of Aramid; 1. Meta-Aramid and 2. Para-Aramid. The first is normally used into the applications for heat resistance, filtration and Electricity insulation. The latter ( Para-Aramid) is widely known by the name of Kevlar® which is a registered trademark of  Dupont. Another one is Twaron® which is the brandname of Teijin Aramid . They both have the properties of good tensile-strength (a few times stronger than steel by the same weight) heat-resistance and abrasion resistance. Aramid has many applications. Normally, as reinforcement material, it is used to combine with other materials to form composite products such as carbon fabrics.
