Aramid FabricsAramid Fabrics are made out of woven synthetic fibers which are very strong and heat-resistant, as well as resistant to abrasion and impact. There are two types of Aramid; 1. Meta-Aramid and 2. Para-Aramid. The first is normally used into the applications for heat resistance, filtration and Electricity insulation. The latter ( Para-Aramid) is widely known by the name of Kevlar® which is a registered trademark of Dupont. Another one is Twaron® which is the brandname of Teijin Aramid . They both have the properties of good tensile-strength (a few times stronger than steel by the same weight) heat-resistance and abrasion resistance. Aramid has many applications. Normally, as reinforcement material, it is used to combine with other materials to form composite products such as carbon fabrics. Aramid is widely used in many industries such as; aerospace applications which require high technology, military applications such as bullet-proof body armor fabrics, sporting products such as bicycle tires, boats etc., auto industries such as tire reinforcement material and the replacement of Asbestos in brake and clutch components, it is also used in composite products for air craft, boat and high performance car parts etc. KIC’s Aramid fabrics
